Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) with over 8 years of hands-on experience in managing and supporting IBM DB2 databases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and automation through scripting. This role requires a proactive individual who can manage complex database environments and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal database performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain IBM DB2 LUW and/or z/OS database environments (added Advantage)
Perform database tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
Implement and manage backup, recovery, and high availability strategies.
Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell, Python, or Perl for routine DBA tasks.
Monitor database health and performance using tools like IBM Data Studio, Toad, or custom scripts.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in development, test, and production environments.
Apply patches, upgrades, and security updates to DB2 environments.
Collaborate with application developers and infrastructure teams to support business requirements.
Maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and standards.
Participate in on-call rotation and provide 24x7 support for critical systems.
Required Skills:
8+ years of experience in DB2 Database Administration (LUW and/or z/OS).
Strong knowledge of DB2 architecture, utilities, and internals.
Proficiency in Replication, SQL tuning, query optimization, and index management.
Solid experience with Linux/Unix environments.
Strong scripting skills in Shell, Python, or Perl for automation and monitoring.
Experience with disaster recovery planning and high availability solutions (e.g., HADR, TSA).
Familiarity with database security, auditing, and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines.
Exposure to other RDBMS platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) is a plus.
IBM DB2 certification is highly desirable.
