Summary:
As a Custom Software Engineer, a typical day involves designing and developing tailored software solutions that enhance various system components. The role requires working closely with different teams to ensure the delivery of scalable and efficient applications. The engineer actively participates in iterative development cycles, continuously improving software performance and adapting solutions to meet evolving business requirements. Collaboration and problem-solving are integral parts of the daily routine, ensuring that the software aligns with organizational goals and user expectations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
-Design, develop, and support ETL/data integration pipelines to enable reliable data flow across enterprise systems in an AMS environment.
-Perform production support (L2/L3) for data pipelines, including monitoring, failure analysis, and timely issue resolution.
-Develop and maintain data extraction, transformation, and load processes from multiple source systems into data warehouses or target platforms.
-Conduct impact analysis for data changes, enhancements, and defect fixes to ensure data quality and downstream stability.
-Optimize ETL jobs for performance, scalability, and reliability, including batch scheduling and dependency management.
-Perform data validation, reconciliation, and post-load checks to ensure accuracy and business sign-off.
-Collaborate with business, analytics, and upstream/downstream teams to understand data requirements and resolve integration issues.
-Maintain technical documentation, data mappings, and runbooks in line with AMS governance standards.
-Support release, change, and deployment activities related to data pipelines in coordination with AMS and DevOps teams.
Professional & Technical Skills:
-Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
-7-8 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Integration, or ETL development within AMS or support environments.
-Strong experience working with data warehousing and ETL technologies.
-Experience supporting production data pipelines with strict SLAs and availability requirements.
-Good understanding of SDLC and data lifecycle in enterprise applications.
-Exposure to cloud or on-prem enterprise data platforms is preferred.
-Experience working with global stakeholders and offshore/onshore teams.
Additional Information:
-Strong hands-on experience with ETL tools and frameworks (e.g., Informatica, Talend, DataStage, or similar).
-Proficiency in SQL and data analysis for troubleshooting and validation.
-Experience with job scheduling and orchestration tools (e.g., Control-M or equivalent).
-Ability to perform data reconciliation, root-cause analysis, and performance tuning.
-Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance practices in enterprise environments.
-Familiarity with CI/CD concepts for data pipelines and release coordination.
-Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in AMS support models
