We’re looking for an experienced Scala Developer to join a highly skilled engineering team working on high-performance, cloud-native backend systems that power a major content delivery and media platform across Europe.
You’ll work on distributed, fault-tolerant, highly available systems, influence architectural decisions, and help shape the future of a platform used by millions.
This role is ideal for engineers who love functional programming, care deeply about clean code, and want real impact at enterprise scale.

Key responsibilities:
Design and develop cloud-native microservices and RESTful APIs in Scala
Build and evolve high-performance backend systems supporting large-scale content delivery
Contribute to architecture and technical decision-making
Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code (TDD/BDD mindset)
Collaborate closely with product managers, QA, frontend & Node.js engineers
Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability using AWS cloud services
Support the full software development lifecycle: design → development → deployment → monitoring
Review code, mentor junior developers, and promote engineering best practices
Work in an Agile, cross-functional, international team
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 3+ years of Scala backend development
Hands-on experience with Scala ecosystems such as Cats / Cats Effect, HTTP4S, or Finatra / Finagle
Strong background in functional programming and concurrent systems
Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices
Solid JVM knowledge, including performance tuning and memory management
Experience with SQL & NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, etc.)
Strong testing culture (ScalaTest, Specs2, TDD/BDD)
Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices
Fluent English (international working environment)
Desired Qualifications:
- Hands on with AWS cloud (EC2, DynamoDB, RDS, API Gateway, CloudWatch)
- Experience with Node.js / TypeScript
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise or media platforms
