Infrastructure & Capital Projects – Project Engineer III - Sustainability – Higher Education, ANS
THE WORK:
- You'll provide technical and engineering support to the Build-LACCD Program Management Office (PMO), including Project Managers and Construction Managers.
- You'll coordinate with PMO staff, College Project Teams, contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, consultants, and College personnel.
- You'll participate in and occasionally lead design and construction meetings.
- You'll conduct field inspections to verify compliance with project specifications, plans, College standards, and DSA requirements.
- You'll read, interpret, and review construction plans, shop drawings, and project documentation.
- You'll prepare and support the development of correspondence, reports, procedures, guidelines, status reports, and photo reports.
- You'll review, estimate, negotiate, and process construction change orders and field orders.
- You'll administer, review, and enforce construction and professional services contracts while managing contractors and consultants.
- You'll review and approve invoices and monitor contractor performance throughout project execution.
- You'll identify project risks, maintain risk registers, and develop mitigation strategies.
- You'll facilitate the resolution of construction and design issues and coordinate timely responses to RFIs, submittals, and change documents.
- You'll generate meeting minutes, maintain project files, confirm record drawing updates, and review submittals for compliance with plans and specifications.
- You'll prepare Scope of Work documents, project status reports, and Proposed Board Actions (PBAs) to support consultant and contractor procurements.
- Onsite at client site: The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships.
$132,000 - $145,600 a year
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in a similar role or position in construction
- BS/BA Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related degree. Four Additional qualifying experience in excess to the minimum years stated above may be substituted for the required education
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:
- Experience on Educational programs/projects and Division of State Architect (DSA) projects
- Experience in all parts of the project life cycle, including master planning, design, and closeout
- Professional Engineer License (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or similar credentials
- Experience with Sustainability Projects:
1) Energy Information System Platform (EIS)
2) Energy Efficiency LED Lighting
3) Building Management System
4) Central Plant Decarbonization (includes local building) / Central Plant/Chillers
5) Renewable Energy and Micro-grid (PV, BESS)
6) Electrical Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS)
