Summary:
As an Application Support Engineer, a typical day involves acting as a software detective by investigating and resolving issues across various components of essential business systems. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying problems, analyzing system behavior, and ensuring the smooth operation of critical applications. The position demands continuous interaction with different teams to understand system intricacies and deliver timely solutions that maintain business continuity and enhance system reliability.
Roles & Responsibilities:
-Provide AMS support, troubleshoot BDC load failures, resolve incidents within SLAs, fix defects, and execute RCA for recurring issues.
-Design, develop, enhance, and test BDC programs (Session & Call Transaction) using ABAP and SHDB recordings.
-Support data migration activities: mapping sheet preparation, data validation, mock loads, and cutover execution for master & transactional data.
-Evaluate and apply alternative migration techniques such as BAPI, IDoc, LSMW, LTMC, recommending optimal approaches based on complexity and volume.
-Collaborate with functional teams (MM, SD, FI, PP, HR) to validate business rules, mappings, and process logic.
-Prepare complete project documentation including technical specs, test scripts, logs, and runbooks, ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
-Support post–go live hyper care activities related to BDC or data loads.
-Provide performance optimization and code tuning for BDC and migration objects.
-Participate in peer reviews for ABAP and migration deliverables.
-Contribute to process automation initiatives leveraging BDC and ABAP tooling.
-Assist in evaluation of new migration tools or technologies used across SAP CoE.
-Support cross module integration testing for data related changes.
-BDC load success rate and error free processing
-SLA compliance for incidents and service requests
-Accuracy and completeness of migration deliverables
-Quality of technical documentation
-Zero defect delivery for project cutover loads
-Reduction in recurring BDC related incidents (RCA effectiveness)
-Deep understanding of SAP master and transactional data objects and their dependencies.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC).
- Strong analytical skills to diagnose and troubleshoot complex software issues.
- Experience in AMS environments including incident resolution, RCA, defect fixing, and cutover support.
- Experience with large scale or cross module data migration projects.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with business process workflows and their integration with software systems.
- Capability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 7.5 years of experience in SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC).
- This position is based at our Bengaluru office.
- A 15 years full time education is required.
-Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
-SAP/ABAP certifications preferred.
