Join our engineering team in Slovakia, working closely with US counterparts in a distributed, high-autonomy setup, and be part of a large-scale fintech transformation for a US client.
We are modernizing a century-old platform serving 5M+ participants, 15,000+ institutions, and $1.3T in assets — moving from fragmented, manual legacy systems to a scalable, automated, AI-enabled platform.
This is a high-impact, high-complexity engineering challenge — not a greenfield demo, but a real-world re-platforming with strict requirements on data consistency, scalability, and reliability.
You’ll work in a modern environment combining Java 21, reactive architecture, Kafka, and hybrid cloud (AWS + on-prem).
YOUR MISSION:
Design and build backend services in Java (Java 21) using modern, reactive approaches
Contribute to decomposition of a legacy monolith into microservices architecture
Develop event-driven systems using Apache Kafka for high-volume financial processing
Work on real-time, high-throughput systems with strict consistency and auditability requirements
Participate in re-platforming to hybrid cloud (AWS + Kubernetes/OpenShift)
Collaborate on automation and AI-assisted development workflows (GenAI tooling)
Take ownership of technical solutions — from design to production
Actively contribute to engineering best practices, mentoring, and knowledge sharing
职位要求
WHO YOU ARE:
-
4-7 years of experience in Java backend development
-
Strong experience with Spring / backend frameworks and API design
-
Hands-on experience with distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architecture
-
Solid understanding of data persistence (SQL + NoSQL)
-
Experience with Kafka or similar messaging/event streaming platforms is a strong advantage
-
Comfortable working with cloud environments (AWS preferred) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
-
Ability to understand complex systems and work with legacy code / unclear requirements
-
Strong problem-solving mindset and ownership mentality
-
English at B2+ level (daily communication in international teams)
-
Slovak or Czech language proficiency (C1 – C2 level)
NICE TO HAVE
-
Experience with reactive frameworks (e.g. Vert.x, WebFlux)

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar) and DevOps practices
-
Experience with hybrid cloud environments

Exposure to AI-assisted development tools / GenAI

Background in financial services or regulated environments
