Role Overview
The Infra Engineering DevSecOps Architect is a senior technical leader responsible for defining the enterprise DevSecOps vision, strategy, and governance model across business units, platforms, and delivery organizations.
The Infra Engineering DevSecOps Architect is a senior SME responsible for shaping the enterprise-wide DevOps and Infra-Sec strategy, defining reference architectures, and establishing governance. The role also focuses on integrating security seamlessly into DevOps workflows, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and cloud-native environments while ensuring compliance with industry standards. Acting as a strategic advisor, the architect sets technical guardrails, reviews solution designs, and guides DevOps and engineering teams on implementation
This role focuses on platform architecture, tooling strategy, secure-by-design frameworks, operating models, and enterprise standardization, ensuring that infrastructure, application delivery, and security converge into a scalable, compliant, and self-service DevSecOps ecosystem.
The architect acts as a design authority and strategic advisor, driving DevSecOps maturity, cloud platform adoption, and engineering excellence across large transformation programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and govern the enterprise DevSecOps platform architecture and roadmap.
- Establish and mandate Secure by Design principles across all CI/CD and platform workflows.
- Approve and govern solution architectures and delivery designs to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
- Drive standardization and adoption of DevSecOps platforms, tools, and frameworks across the organization.
- Partner with Cloud, Security, and Application Architects to deliver integrated, end-to-end platform solutions.
- Define and govern DevSecOps maturity assessment frameworks and adoption roadmaps.
- Evaluate and onboard emerging technologies including AI-assisted engineering and intelligent automation.
DevSecOps (Enterprise Strategy & Governance)
- Envision and establish the enterprise-wide DevSecOps and platform engineering strategy.
- Define frameworks, standards, and architectural guardrails to ensure:
- Secure, compliant, and consistent delivery
- Design enterprise release management strategies, including:
- Blue-green, Canary deployments
- Automated rollback and resilience patterns
- Institutionalize the DevSecOps Operating Model across Agile and hybrid delivery models.
Security, CI/CD & Observability Platform
- Define enterprise standards for:
- CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps
- GitOps: ArgoCD / Flux
- Security: SonarQube, Checkov, Snyk, Veracode / Checkmarx, Trivy
- Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, OpenTelemetry
- Ensure SAST, DAST, SCA, IaC and container security are embedded into pipelines by default.
- Establish platform-level KPIs and engineering metrics.
Cloud & Platform Architecture
- Provide architectural oversight for:
- Cloud Landing Zones
- Application platform architectures
- Drive DevSecOps platform adoption across:
- AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
- Demonstrate strong understanding of:
- IaaS, PaaS, Kubernetes / container platforms (EKS, AKS, GKE, OpenShift)
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Govern enterprise IaC standards using:
- Terraform, Bicep / CloudFormation, Ansible
- Define Policy as Code standards using OPA / Sentinel.
- Ensure IaC patterns meet security, scalability, and compliance requirements.
Application Deployment & Automation
- Standardize end-to-end deployment architectures:
- IaC + CI/CD + Security + Observability
- Enable self-service, product-aligned platform consumption models.
- Ensure deployment frameworks support:
- Reliability, scalability, compliance, and resilience.
Communication & Leadership
- Drive enterprise platform alignment across business units.
- Lead DevSecOps / Platform Engineering communities of practice.
- Represent the platform function in:
- Architecture review boards
- Strategy and governance forums
- Influence senior stakeholders and engineering leaders.
Experience & Leadership Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Architecture, or Infrastructure Security.
- Proven experience leading enterprise-scale DevSecOps or platform transformations.
- Strong architecture governance, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.
- Ability to translate engineering strategy into business outcomes.
Minimum Required Certifications
At least ONE of the following is mandatory:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- GCP Professional Cloud Architect
Preferred (Nice to Have) Certificationsss
One or more of the following is a strong plus:
- AWS DevOps Engineer Professional / Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or CKS
- HashiCorp Terraform Associate
- CISSP or CCSP
- Resource needs to be AI Ready.
